“Make it happen.”

Whether you have a horse-mad child, galloping around over cushions in your lounge, or you’re a busy mum sat at a desk every week wishing you were sat in the saddle again, we are here to give our students that fix.

As a riding school and grazing facility, we aim to do things differently; with quality instruction and education, in a friendly and safe environment, we hope to make the dream of riding or owning horses a reality for our clients.

Our horses are true unicorns: full of personality, and permanent members of the family, owned personally by each individual family member. They are adjustable, multi-talented, and are kept keen through variety and an array of riders and activities. These horses are incredibly special to us; some of them have been with us since they were a yearling, some have taught family members to ride and have been around for many ‘firsts.’ Each mount has a wonderful story behind them, as to how they ended up with us. Our entire ethos is centered around caring for these irreplaceable horses.

All students must apply via our application form to ride at Belmont; we also do not take students on a casual basis. We also offer a number of enrichment programs around educating riders throughout the year, exclusive to our students.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Steve & Jen - Directors,

Belmont Farm NZ Ltd

Our Mission.

Our Team

Jen - Owner, Director & Coach

Jen has had a distinct passion for horses since a very young age, begging her parents for lessons and constantly finding ways to spend more time with these wonderful animals. Her enthusiasm paid off in her teens when her riding school (Wales, UK) saw potential in her teaching style, and developed her to teach weekly lessons. Jen has also held yard management positions, in both Wales and England from 20 + dressage horses to 60+ trekking horses before moving to New Zealand in 2012. Jen’s second passion is education and pedagogy. She believes in fun, interactive learning experiences to give students a supportive and safe environment in which to develop their skills further within their partnership, and looks forward to exploring this methodology further as Belmont Farm grows.

Steve - Owner, Director & Farm Manager

Steve found himself thrown into the world of horses when his three daughters began riding lessons. After many years of trial and error, shows and ringside support for his children, Steve is a natural horseman and comforting soundboard for our families new to horse ownership at the farm. You can often find him gently bomb-proofing the horses by immersing himself in tractor-ing, leaf-blowing, chain sawing and the like. Sorry in advance!

Holly Binks

HEAD COACH

Holly is a huge part of our origin story, and the way in which we teach at Belmont Farm. She is a well respected coach in our area, with a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of horsemanship. Holly looks at the relationship between horse and rider from the moment you put the halter on, and aims to build upon this under saddle. She has jumped at HOY and competed in many disciplines, and produced many different kinds of horses. Her teaching style is encouraging for our students, and her passion for the sport is infectious to all those that take part in her lessons.

Unicorn HALL OF FAME.

In celebration of the unicorns we love, and have loved, past and present, in the paddocks at Belmont, or the paddocks in the sky; the special horses that have captured our hearts.
