Student Code of Conduct

  1. BFNZ students are required to wear appropriate riding gear: helmet, footwear, limited jewelry, shoulders and stomach covered, to limit injury.

  2. Students need to practice common sense in a rural environment, i.e. closing gates, acknowledgment and best practice of our Health & Safety Policy.

  3. Students are required to treat all unicorns, students, coaches and grazers (people who keep their horse at Belmont) with respect.

  4. Students are required to listen attentively to their coach’s instructions, to get the most out of their lessons.

  5. Students need to exercise proper emotional regulation around animals and others.

  6. Students need to be sensible with mobile phone usage at the farm, being diligent to all instructions and hazards around them at all times. Phones are not to be used during lessons.

  7. We encourage you getting some video of you riding - any filming by parents or friends, needs to occur from outside the arena. Please do not ask your coach or coaching assistants to film; if your coach believes this will help you, they will suggest this and offer.

  8. Students need to treat all other riders, coaches and staff with respect, and encourage a positive work and learning environment, via both social media and in person.

  9. BFNZ students appreciate that bullying or unkindness is not tolerated at Belmont, in relation to other students and their families. That includes students to their own families!

  10. Should we hear of or witness any form of bullying at the yard or online, students may be asked to leave. Please report any concerns directly to Jen via email.

  11. All areas used by BFNZ students need to be kept clean and tidy - please put away any items used.

  12. Please do not walk onto the yard unless a Belmont Staff Member has told you you are able to do so. Our yard is also home to the horses of others, and their nature may not be as predictable as our unicorns’.

If you need any clarification on any of the points above, or have any suggestions of what should b included, please let us know!
